MEXICO

I have taken way too long a break from Mexico and forgot how amazing a country it is. I have been to Mexico easily over 50 times. I went every year growing up to visit family and when I was old enough to travel on my own, spent more time and I even lived there. Unfortunately, I have not visited Mexico in over 12 years and just recently returned April of 2024. With that said, this section on Mexico will be really small. As much as I know about Mexico, I am well over a decade behind, so to put information on other locations would be inaccurate. A lot can change in 10-20 years. With that said, despite all this, I am still a wealth of general knowledge and I have tons of family in Mexico who have a wealth of knowledge. Become a subscriber, send me a message. I can give you real good information, despite the limited information I'll provide below.

What I like about Mexico is quite simple and this is what I have noticed from the past and my most recent trip.

1.) THE CULTURE-

The culture is great. It is vibrant, fun, outgoing, and exciting. With its music, food, dance, and more its an exciting culture to experience.

2.) THE FOOD-

Mexican food is easily in my top 3 favorite types of food. I have been to almost every country in the Americas. I don't think there is a better type of food the whole of the American continents.

3.) THE PEOPLE-

When I say this I mean this not only for Mexico, but Latino America. The people are hella cool. You might think I get it good because I have family who take real good care of me. No! Latinos are generally very open, fun, and generous people. I have been invited to all sorts of events and functions by Latinos all over the Americas, from Mexico to Argentina and have been "adopted" more than once. BUT, it does help to speak Spanish. I speak Spanish so it opens up a lot of doors for me.

4.) THE AMBIANCE-

The ambiance is laid back. While I see people in Asia and USA living to work, the Mexicans are working to live. What I mean by this, is family and fun from my experience are what make Mexicans different from my own country and other places I have lived.

If you don't know me by now, I tend to try to experience real living in a country. I don't do tours and resorts often. I often shop and eat at local cheap, but good places. The point of traveling to me is to step out of my comfort zone, explore. and do things I normally don't do in the US. I still include a variety, but tend to share locations that are common for locals, not tourists. There are tons of blogs, websites and videos that share the popular tourist spots. I tend to avoid that, though, depending how long i am in a place, I will engage in as much as I can.

I hope you enjoy this small piece of Mexico, and don't be shy, feel free to use me as a resource. Always willing to help someone with locations or even a basic itinerary, though most can be found in my videos. However, since my videos get almost no views, I may stop making videos for the public, and just focus on this website more, since it seems to be more helpful.

Finally, I try to find general things about a place that encompasses the whole country. Sure, Mexico has some nice beaches, but you won't find any in Colima, Guadalajara, or Mexico City. You won't find ruins everywhere nor cenotes. To me, these four areas represent Mexico regardless where you go.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the contents!

Barra de Navidad

Barra de Navidad is a location I have been coming to since the 80’s. Physically, a lot has changed in terms of size and population, but after returning from an almost 20 year break it had a similar feel still. Some people still recognized me, which was nice. Another huge difference are the bugs. I remember tons of cockroaches, flies, mosquitos, scorpions, spiders, and other vermin. I didn’t see much of any of them. Even mosquitoes, but I’m sure there are still a lot. Located on the pacific coast of Mexico, in the state of Jalisco, it lies 60 km north of Manazillo. I would consider it a small fishing and farming town. It is a great destination if you desire a small town beach feel, great seafood, and a relaxing environment.

Guadalajara

Welcome to Guadalajara, the beating heart of Jalisco, Mexico. Explore the city's historic center with its colonial charm, bustling markets, and iconic landmarks like the Guadalajara Cathedral. Dive into the local art scene, savor delicious street food, and venture out to discover the stunning landscapes of Jalisco, including the charming town of Tequila. Experience the rich tapestry of Mexican culture and hospitality in Guadalajara – where every moment is an opportunity for adventure and discovery.
